Post-tensioned floor slab strategies for hospitals
Interspan is proud to be a pivotal player in the Griffith Base Hospital Redevelopment.
This groundbreaking project, nestled at 1 Noorebar Avenue in Griffith, NSW, holds the promise of reshaping healthcare services in the region.
Collaborating seamlessly with ADCO Constructions, we continue our commitment to excellence in designing and constructing post-tensioned slabs.
This state-of-the-art facility, boasting 16,570 square meters of post-tensioned slab spread across four stories, is revolutionising the healthcare infrastructure.
Comprising the ground floor, Level 1, Level 2, and the Roof, the Griffith Base Hospital provides a wide range of services to address the healthcare requirements of the region.
During the tender stage, the team identified approximately 360 cubic meters of concrete savings through innovative design.
This cost-saving approach exemplifies Interspan’s commitment to efficiency and sustainability.
Restraint was also a special consideration during the design process, with 920 horizontal and 369 vertical dowels/sleeves being utilised in the construction to mitigate its effects.
Leading software tools, including RAPT and Ram Concept, have facilitated the design and analysis of the Griffith Base Hospital Redevelopment.
The structural design features an 8.4 square grid with a banded solution with 1800W, 390mm Deep bands with slabs spanning between. Armourdeck steel formwork was a fast, efficient method of creating suspended concrete slabs.
The project involved operating in a remote location with limited team sizes and stringent timelines.
This sparked innovation and efficiency, reinforcing our dedication to high-quality standards and specialised installations.
The Griffith Base Hospital Redevelopment commenced in November 2022 and is scheduled to conclude in September 2023, with practical completion expected in early 2024.
The Griffith Base Hospital Redevelopment is a remarkable construction project with immense significance for the region. It’s the first project in Griffith to feature a tower crane, underscoring the project’s scale and complexity.
Moreover, this project is part of the NSW Government’s $250 million investment in healthcare infrastructure in the Riverina region.
From Interspan’s perspective, the Griffith Base Hospital Redevelopment is more than just a project; it’s a testament to our commitment to excellence and reflects our passion for precision and innovation.
