Project Description

Post-tension slabs for Home Docklands Marvel Stadium Precinct

Nestled at 685 La Trobe Street in Melbourne’s vibrant Marvel Stadium Precinct, Home Docklands is a testament to innovative design and construction. The residential project was designed by Cox Architecture and built by Hacer Group, with I&D Group as the frame contractor and 4D Workshop as the Consulting Engineer.

Home Docklands is set to redefine exclusive rental communities in the heart of Melbourne.

Design and construction of Post-Tensioned slabs

The project is next to Marvel Stadium, with construction split across two 31-storey and 30-storey residential towers comprising 676 apartments, extensive hotel-style resident amenities and approximately 2,500sqm of premium ground floor retail space.

Interspan was engaged to design and construct over 70,000 square meters of Post-tension slabs.

Interspan in-house design

The Interspan in-house design team utilised the RAM Concept and RAPT design software packages alongside their post-tension design expertise to provide the client with significant savings in post-tension and Reinforcement quantities.

The project featured big spans in the towers. Despite this, Interspan designed the tower slabs in line with the deflection criteria, highlighting the engineering prowess of the Interspan team.

Interspan designed, supplied and installed over 500 Square Dowel Shear Connectors for Temporary Movement Joints (TMJ); installed and grouted over 1,000 dowel bar sleeves from the retention systems and Temporary Movement Joints.

5-star Green Rating Rating

The project achieved a remarkable 5-star Green Star Rating, showcasing its commitment to sustainability.

As construction progresses, Home Docklands continues to reflect Interspan’s dedication to excellence. Interspan is proud to be a part of this ongoing success story, marking our presence as a leader in post-tension design and construction in the residential market.

The project is due for completion in 2024.
