Post-tensioning for PLC Sports, Aquatic & Fitness Centre

At Interspan, we’re proud to have contributed to the delivery of the brand-new PLC Sports, Aquatic & Fitness Centre — a landmark facility that redefines student sport and wellbeing.

A Partnership Built on Expertise

Delivered by ADCO as the Main Contractor, with Domain Concrete as the Frame Contractor, who engaged Interspan to provide post-tensioning solutions that supported the project’s ambitious vision. Stantec was the project designer. Together, this collaboration ensured precision, safety, and long-term structural performance.

A State-of-the-Art Facility

This world-class centre offers students and the community an outstanding suite of sporting and fitness facilities, including:

  • Sports Hall with 3 full-sized courts for netball, basketball, badminton, and volleyball

  • Aquatics Precinct featuring a 50m, 8-lane FINA-standard competition pool with flexible seating for 470 spectators, plus a learn-to-swim pool and diving facilities

  • Gymnasium with specialised spaces for spin, free weights, cardio, and a dedicated Gymnastics Hall

  • Multi-Function Rooms adaptable for teaching, aerobics, and more

  • Amenities & Support Spaces, including change rooms, staff offices, and equipment storage

  • Undercover Car Parking with additional drop-off and pick-up zones for convenience

To bring this ambitious design to life, ADCO installed over 600 tonnes of complex structural steel, all independently certified to CC2 compliance standards.

Interspan’s Contribution

Our team delivered 5,470 m² of post-tensioned slabs, supported by TMJ horizontal sleeves, vertical sleeves, square dowels, and PMJs. We utilised RAM Concept Analysis and Design Software to ensure precision in modelling and execution, and achieved spans up to 18.5m with 800-deep PT beams.

The PLC Sports, Aquatic & Fitness Centre is more than just a building — it’s a place that will inspire future generations of athletes, students, and community members. We’re proud to have played our part in making it a reality.
