Post-Tensioning Bridge Construction – Northern Beaches Hospital
Enhancing connectivity in the Northern Beaches Hospital precinct, Frenchs Forest, NSW.
As part of the Northern Beaches Hospital Connectivity and Network Enhancement (NBCaNE) program, this project delivered a series of road and bridge upgrades to improve access and traffic flow throughout the Frenchs Forest area. The works included the widening of Warringah Road, the construction of a 1.3 km grade-separated underpass, and three associated underpass bridges.
The bridge structures were designed as cast-in-situ voided slab systems with post-tensioned concrete, enabling longer spans, improved durability, and adaptable geometry to suit the complex interchange layout.
Interspan’s Role
Interspan was engaged by the Ferrovial York Joint Venture to deliver the post-tensioning systems across the bridge components.
Our scope included the supply, installation, threading, stressing, and grouting of 19- and 31-strand tendons, representing a total of 21 tonnes of post-tensioning steel.
All works were executed in full compliance with TfNSW B113 specifications, ensuring consistent performance, durability, and quality across each bridge element.
