Rosanna Library & Supermarket, VIC – Post-Tensioning Project
Interspan delivered the post-tensioning design and construction (D&C) scope for the Rosanna Library & Supermarket development in Victoria, a mixed-use project combining retail infrastructure with a major community facility.
Located at 72 & 44 Turnham Avenue, Rosanna, the development integrates a Woolworths supermarket with a new council library designed to meet the evolving needs of the local community.
Through a partnership with Woolworths, the new Rosanna Library will be a three-storey, 1,600m² facility incorporating children’s learning spaces, co-working areas, meeting rooms, quiet zones, Maternal Child Health services, a toy library, and indoor/outdoor community spaces.
Post-Tensioning Design Challenges
Structural Integration with Steel Framing:
Curved façade and steel framing introduced lateral load transfer into the PT slabs.
Exposed Slab Finish:
Required high crack control and precise tendon profiling.
Concealed Pan Requirements:
All pans were required to be hidden, increasing the complexity of detailing.
Integrated Dowel and Sleeve Supply
As part of the PT package, Interspan coordinated and supplied:
• TMJ horizontal sleeves
• Vertical sleeves
• Square dowels
This integrated approach ensured accurate placement, alignment with reinforcement and formwork systems, and seamless coordination across trades.
Delivery Outcomes
- High-quality exposed PT slab finishes
- Effective integration with structural steel systems
- Coordinated dowel and sleeve installation across trades
- Efficient delivery within a tight programme
Community Outcome
The new Rosanna Library will be double the size of the existing facility, providing a modern, flexible environment for learning and community use.
