Strengthening Educational Infrastructure for a Growing Community
Interspan was engaged by Builder Roberts Co. to deliver the full post-tensioned slab package for the redevelopment of Carlingford West Public School and Cumberland High School—part of the NSW Government’s $3.9B investment into modernising Western Sydney education. Working alongside Consulting Engineers TTW, Interspan supported two upgraded campuses designed to meet the needs of rapidly growing student populations.
Supporting Modern Teaching Through Smarter Structural Solutions
The upgrades introduce contemporary, flexible spaces that enhance teaching capability and student engagement. Carlingford West Public School now features a new hall, library, multipurpose areas, and refurbished facilities that promote collaboration and adaptable learning. Cumberland High School benefits from new specialist spaces, including workshops, arts studios, and performance facilities—broadening learning opportunities and supporting future-focused programs.
Building Capacity for Growing Communities
With enrolments rising across Western Sydney, both schools required expanded and modernised infrastructure. The redevelopment significantly increases teaching capacity while improving circulation, amenities and usability across each campus.
Interspan delivered 19,500 m² of post‑tensioned slabs across six buildings, ensuring structural efficiency, program certainty and streamlined construction.
Engineering for Performance, Efficiency and Long-Term Value
Interspan’s D&C post‑tensioning solutions enabled long spans, open floor plates and efficient structural systems suited to education environments.
Benefits included reduced material quantities, enhanced construction speed, improved sustainability outcomes and dependable quality control—supporting Roberts Co and TTW in meeting the project’s demanding performance requirements.
