Project Description

Built engaged Interspan for the design, supply and construction of over 38,000 sqm

The Liverpool Civic Place is a project designed to cater to the diverse needs of the Liverpool community.

The construction of the $400 million mixed-use development, which received $195 million from Liverpool City Council, was led by Built Pty Ltd and is set to transform the landscape of Liverpool and provide its residents with a new epicentre of activity, learning, and culture.

Interspan were engaged by Built for the design, supply and construction of over 38,000 square meters, spanning three basement levels and rising to 13 levels for the main building and 3 levels for the library building.

Interspan Design Team

The experienced design team at Interspan utilised sophisticated design and analysis software, including Rapt and Ram Concepts, allowing for precise calculations and intricate detailing.

Particular consideration was given to restraint and the requirement for temporary release in the basement slabs. To mitigate the impact of the restraint and allow the prestress to enter the slabs, Interspan designed and detailed a mix of horizontal and vertical dowel bars.

This strategy encompassed a total installation of more than 1,500 dowel bars throughout the entirety of the project.

The Liverpool Civic Place boasts an essential role in community enrichment. Housing new Council offices and Chambers, a city library, a vibrant community hub, and even a childcare facility, the development encapsulates a holistic approach to communal well-being.
The civic plaza serves as a dynamic, open space for gatherings and events, underscoring the project’s commitment to fostering connection and interaction.
Interspan’s work on the project started in March 2022 and concluded in May 2023, with practical completion set for the coming months.
