Design and construct post-tension works for Whitten Oval Redevelopment.
The project involves revitalising and expanding the stadium with Interspan, the post-tension works contractor, under the employment of Domain Concrete.
The Whitten Oval Redevelopment, located at 417 Barkly Street, Footscray VIC, is set to become a landmark sporting destination in Melbourne.
The project is expected to significantly impact the stadium’s capacity and infrastructure, providing a state-of-the-art training ground for the Western Bulldogs AFL team and enhancing the overall sporting experience for fans.
ADCO Constructions is the main contractor responsible for overseeing the entire project, while Domain Concrete is the frame contractor that employed Interspan to handle the post-tension works.
The decision to employ Interspan in the design process, given their expertise with Ram Concept and RAPT analysis and design software, offered savings in post-tension and reinforcement.
Interspan also designed and supplied Surelok Shear Connectors for Temporary Movement Joints (TMJs).
The redevelopment commenced its post-tension works in May 2023, and its completion date is August 2023. Practical Completion is expected in the following months.
